New Apple Pencil can draw right on your desk | Shaikh Inside

In 2020, Apple Pencil turns five years old. Officially, it is classified as a “digital stylus," but now it is more than just another stylus. Very few people still know about this, though. April 7 (yesterday) Apple received a patent whose number ends in “666”. This is a lucky number for Apple, the very first computer company (Apple I) cost $ 666 in 1976. When the invention protected by this patent becomes a reality, much will change.
Apple Pencil 3 will become a virtual trackpad
In the past year or two, the number of Apple patents and patent applications related to the Apple Pencil published by the American Patent and Trademark Office has increased significantly. Until now, the talk in the published materials was about specific technical solutions, although they were interesting to narrow circles of specialists, but they did not cause strong emotions. Touch sensors, rotation sensors, control of pencil settings by changing its inclination and much more - to understand and evaluate these innovations, you need to try the Apple Pencil equipped with them for at least 10-15 minutes.

Whether they are convenient and easy to get comfortable with them is not obvious. It was impossible to guess that all these important, but not too significant “things” for civilization are just a fragment of something completely new. For this new audience to “hook”, you need only one thing: that it works reliably and without failures. There will be no turning back. Unless, of course, its price is prohibitively high.

New Apple Pencil

The first and second Apple Pencil can only be used on a touch-sensitive surface (touch input) that complies with a whole range of rules and conventions unknown to the user. They work with select models of select iPad variants. Perhaps the “big” iPhone will join them. But in patent 10.613.666 an apple pencil is offered to our attention, working on a different principle, on any surface. The movements of the transferring part of the pencil are tracked using LiDAR sensors or something similar to them. The patent does not disclose this point.
The new Apple Pencil will have a LiDAR sensor
A Mac with a set of necessary sensors (there are no such Mas’s yet), which tracks the movements of a pencil in space, converts them into an image on the screen. To text, to voluminous constructions, to anything. One drawback is obvious right now: the first and second Apple Pencil leave a mark at the point where the pencil touches the surface. The pencil described in the patent with 666 at the end behaves like a huge virtual trackpad in size. But for drawing, you can use, for example, the surface of the table.

This is something from the movie Mission Impossible.

Why do I need a stylus?

All (or almost all) know that Steve Jobs objected to the Stylus. Categorically. From media reports of the zero decade and from a number of “eyewitness accounts” it is known that Steve immediately, and in the most aggressive form, dismissed those who dared to utter this word with him. Real eyewitnesses say this was not. Of those whom Steve “fired without a severance pay,” not only because of the word “stylus,” some have worked at Apple until then. One of them even heads the company.
But what exactly did not suit Steve with styluses, nobody especially bothers. He believed that the stylus should not be the main means of interaction with the user interface. Moreover, the only one. The Apple Pencil was not a "retreat from dogma."

The very first stylus for iOS devices, the Apple Pencil, was introduced on September 9, 2015, along with the very first iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch screen. We met him enthusiastically, but, surprisingly, he exceeded enthusiastic expectations. Its sales began on November 11, 2015, and despite its “unashamedly high price” (it cost $ 99), it didn’t go to storage in warehouses. This is one of Apple's most successful products, Steve could be proud of. Sales of the Apple Pencil 2 began on November 7, 2018, along with sales of the “diehard” iPad Pro.
